Path and Inspiration
I had my first taste of ceramics in my sixth form art classes. This was further advanced with evening classes while working in South Africa in the early 80's. The bug lay dormant for the next 40 odd years until my retirement from my Architect's Practice in 2023.
I had a few lessons with Colin Jones in Bransgore and the flame was lit. I started with a cheap wheel from Vevor and was very lucky to pick up an unwanted kiln that came with numerous glazes. I am on a steep learning curve with each opening of the kiln bringing a new delight.
Process and Practice
I have a studio in my garden in Southbourne. I work on the wheel mainly but also slip cast and hand build. I am inspired by natural forms and the joy that living on the coast brings. I usually produce practical items but continue to search for the form that is a delight in itself.
