About Us

East Dorset Potters is a non profit group that connects the ceramic community around Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and surrounding areas. The group was founded in 1995 as an offshoot of the Bridport based Dorset Pottery Group.

The group is an eclectic mix of professional and no-professional potters and ceramicists with varying levels of experience. Some of our members teach pottery and some used to teach pottery. We are connected by our appreciation of ceramic art, a desire to further our knowledge and to communicate with fellow ceramic artists and collectors.

Our members' work reflects how diverse pottery can be. Some of us throw, some of us handbuild and some of us sculpt. Some of us low fire, some of us high fire. Many of us are inspired by our beautiful Dorset coastline and the countryside that we are so lucky to have on our doorstep.

The group provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences of all those involved. Our members meet regularly to discuss all things pottery and ceramics related. 

We arrange workshops, guest demos and we regularly exhibit our work at venues around Dorset. 

We are run by members for members and we work to support our members whether they are experienced professionals or just getting started.  We are supportive and encouraging of each other and we are always happy to meet you and welcome you to our friendly group.
