Path and Inspiration
Helen is a novice potter - but has found her creative home through clay! From the very first time on a wheel she loved the sensation of allowing a lump of clay to be the piece inside! Helen finds every element of the creative process exciting - making a shape out of a lump of clay, trimming, turning and carving, glazing - and then the magic of opening a kiln with lustrous colours and textures.
Process and Practice
Helen creates joyful ceramic pieces that celebrate the beauty of sharing food and flowers with loved ones. After moving to Dorset from her role as Director of Oxfordshire’s Child Bereavement Charity, she discovered a passion for pottery and has been working with clay since 2023.
She loves throwing pieces that can be used every day to enhance sharing food: soup tureens and bowls, cheese platters, olive bowls, breakfast sets, cups and mugs…
Helen is also exploring more sculptural forms, including vases perfect for showcasing flowers, and pieces that bring an artistic touch to the home.
