Path and Inspiration
My work in sculptural ceramics is deeply inspired by the natural world. Drawing inspiration from the rugged and diverse landscapes of Dorset, where rolling hills meet dramatic coastlines, my work seeks to capture the raw essence of the environment and the dynamic interplay between natural forces.
Process and Practice
My process begins with sketches, inspirational photographs, and small models. Both form and finish are central to my work, and I always strive to create aesthetically pleasing shapes. Using pinch-pot, coil, and slab-building methods with a variety of stoneware clays, I find the tactile process of working with clay deeply mindful.
In addition to barrel-firing and creating unglazed, high-fired stoneware, I also craft wood ash glazes using the ash remnants from my barrel firings.
