Path and Inspiration

Love of nature and animals is a theme which has coloured my work from my earliest years when at 10 years of age  I had work exhibited in the national children’s exhibition in London. Later I trained at Southampton where I studied design and 3D for 5 years. I gained a teaching certificate and taught ceramics, until recently, in Hampshire and Dorset to “A” level standard. I have my own workshop and have been making and exhibiting my work at local and national galleries for 20 years. I have exhibited in London, Southampton, Eastleigh, Portsmouth Basingstoke, Andover, Salisbury and Chichester. I also regularly exhibit work as part of a group.

Process and Practice

Under the tutorage of Alvin Betteridge and Nigel Wood in Southampton, I developed my interest in experimenting with glaze and finishes. I now produce and am continually developing all my own glazes. Since moving on from teaching I have opened my studio yearly under the Hampshire Open Studios umbrella. This has enabled me to show work in a natural setting. I also run a regular workshop group which helps to keep me up to date with current work.
